Got anything planned for the bank holiday weekend? Maybe you are going away for the full week, which is what we used to do when I was a child. I assume it took our minds off the impending return to school, but also the weather changes around this time so it can sometimes be the start of a lovely bit of weather after a poor Summer.
In any event, this time of year always reminds me of holidays by the sea or in the Dales or perhaps Scotland. We usually stayed in Britain to avoid flying and when you are little all that matters is to be somewhere different and to have fun. Seeing the cornfields glowing golden yellow and hearing sheep baaing takes me right back to those times and those places. A fondly remembered carefree childhood holiday in a cottage nestled between hills and seashore.
But, you may be thinking; what has this got to do with accounting or research and development or tax saving? Nothing really, I just felt like reminiscing a bit. Oh, and to remember that there is a reason we are all doing this (being in business I mean). It’s not about the money, it’s about what we can do with the money. The pleasures we can have and the memories we can make along the way.
So whatever your plans for the upcoming week, please make time to stop and smell the roses (or whatever is flowering for you right now). It only takes a moment and you’ll be glad you did.
Have a great week
Paul
