It struck me this morning during my dog walk that when she is trying to find a treat that I have thrown she will use her eyes if she can see it fall but her nose if it lands out of sight. As you might expect. But she will continue sniffing even if the treat is in plain sight, often walking past it and around it. I assume that she is so focused on sniffing she isn’t looking anymore.
It got me thinking about how easy it is to walk past opportunities because we are focused on something else or on doing it the usual way even if there is an easier one available. I know I do that all the time.
One of the best ways to be “lucky” is to keep your both eyes and your mind open. To be aware of the possibilities and to assume that an answer to your problem exists, even if you don’t know what it is at the moment.
