Speed

by | 28 Apr, 2019

I don’t know how many of you are aware but on Monday a new speeding ticket regime came into play. From now on a magistrate can give you a fine of up to 50% of your weekly income (about £300 for the average earner) for going up to 10 miles over the posted limit. If you are really going for it then that fine could be up to 3 times larger.

So be careful how fast you go. I know, I know, you wouldn’t dream of speeding, but let’s face it nowadays it is very easy to creep over the limit. And since lots of speed traps seem to be rather cynically positioned where this is most likely to happen rather than at actual accident blackspots…

You have been warned!

So , you may be thinking, what has this got to do with my business?

Nothing really, I just thought I’d let you know. Because there’s no point in making money if you just have to give it back to the government for a moment’s lapse of concentration.

Having said that so many business people worry about saving money by cost cutting or reducing their tax bill instead of making money by:

marketing more and better (to the right type of clients)

being more effective at doing what you do (get the process right)

being more efficient at doing what you do (cut out the distractions and the timewasters)

being in the right business to start with (don’t laugh; you wouldn’t believe how many people don’t consider this and keep slogging away at a business that is never going to fly)

So I shall be launching a series of blogs on this for your information and entertainment. And if you don’t find it entertaining, then spending the extra profits might help cheer you up.

Have a great weekend

Paul

PS The fines are capped (£1,000 or £2,500 on the motorway) so it’s not all bad news ?
