This week I have a bad back which is annoying, firstly because it is holding up my work but also because I can’t exercise.
I have been trying to stay trim for a few years now ever since I realised that I’m not as young as I used to be and I can’t eat what I want without suffering the consequences. One thing I have not been doing is jogging or cycling: both take too long and don’t deliver enough bang for the buck (it would, I think, be different if I actually enjoyed either activity). So instead I do interval training and weight training. I hesitated about the latter since it has narcissistic overtones but a year or so ago I read that increased muscle mass is linked to a longer life so now I’m going for it. Move over Chris Hemsworth!
So what has this got to do with business? Well quite a lot actually and good health is probably the first thing any businessperson should concentrate on. If you are run down, overweight and/or unfit then you will not be able to function at your best, whether that is in your personal life or your business one. Keeping fit is Richard Branson’s number one productivity “secret”. So go for it, it doesn’t have to be hard work.
Have a great week
Paul
